Description
Handcrafted in Saitama using centuries-old techniques, these Warosoku candles are made with a deep reverence for nature’s rhythms and a wish for purification. Each candle is built layer by layer using haze wax, and infused with sea salt gathered during a spring tide under a full moon—a moment when the gravitational pull of the earth, moon, and sun aligns to create the strongest tidal forces. In Japanese tradition, these tides are associated with the ebb and flow of life and death, infusing each candle with a symbolic vitality.
The wick is made from washi paper and igusa, the same fibre used in tatami mats, which produces a brilliant, steady flame. Warosoku candles are known not only for their beautiful, flickering light but also for their clean burn—these candles evaporate as they burn, leaving no dripping wax.
This set of three candles embodies the transience celebrated in Japanese aesthetics—like cherry blossoms, they are here briefly, beautifully, and with quiet dignity. Ideal for meditative spaces or spiritual rituals, these candles bring light in both the physical and emotional sense.
