Rocky Mountain Featherbed.

Rocky Mountain Featherbed brings together American outerwear heritage, western detailing and Japanese dedication to craft. First established in the late 1960s in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, the brand became known for garments designed to deliver exceptional warmth and insulation, taking inspiration from cowboy wear and traditional leather cape construction.

At the heart of Rocky Mountain Featherbed is the signature western yoke, cut from a single seamless piece of leather. This distinctive detail gives the brand its unmistakable character, combining rugged outdoor function with a refined sense of design. The original garments were made for warmth, comfort and durability, with the idea of insulation that felt as dependable as a featherbed.

Although the original brand disappeared in the late 1980s, its legacy was revived by Japanese collector Kinji Teramoto. After years of collecting, researching and prototyping, he brought Rocky Mountain Featherbed back in 2005 with a renewed focus on quality, authenticity and careful construction. The revival honours the original designs while refining them through Japanese attention to detail.

Our Rocky Mountain Featherbed collection at Jeanstore includes distinctive outerwear and signature pieces built around warmth, texture and lasting style. Expect single-cut leather yokes, natural mouton collars, premium materials and silhouettes that blend vintage American outdoor influence with a more considered modern finish.

Rocky Mountain Featherbed at Jeanstore

Rocky Mountain Featherbed is a brand with deep roots in American outerwear history, first established in the late 1960s in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Inspired by cowboy wear and the leather capes developed through Native American ingenuity, the brand became known for garments designed to deliver warmth and insulation in the manner of a featherbed. At the heart of that identity is the signature western yoke, cut from a single seamless piece of leather, which remains one of the brand’s most distinctive details.

Although the original brand disappeared in the late 1980s, its story did not end there. Japanese collector Kinji Teramoto began collecting Rocky Mountain Featherbed pieces and eventually took over the brand, leading a revival built on more than two decades of research and prototyping. Since 2005, the collection has been reintroduced with a level of quality that honours the original while refining it further, preserving hallmark details such as single-cut leather yokes and natural mouton collars while adding a more modern edge.

Our Rocky Mountain Featherbed collection reflects that blend of heritage, craftsmanship and luxury. Expect outerwear and signature pieces that combine exceptional warmth, distinctive western detailing and a refined finish. These are garments with real character, shaped by American roots and elevated through Japanese dedication to quality and design.
