Find your denim shirt
A denim shirt can work as a layer or as the main part of an outfit. Lighter washes bring contrast to dark trousers, while deep indigo and black offer a more uniform finish. Choose a regular fit for wearing fastened, or consider a roomier cut if you prefer to layer it over a T-shirt.
Our collection includes western and work shirt designs, with different pocket layouts, fastenings and fits. Levi’s® Barstow shirts sit alongside options from Wrangler and Lee, while Filson’s Denim Guide Shirt offers another take on everyday denim shirting.
Western details and work shirt designs
Western denim shirts often feature shaped shoulder yokes, flap chest pockets and snap fastenings. Work shirts offer an alternative, with details varying from simple button fronts to different chest pocket arrangements. Look at the individual design when choosing between them: the fabric alone doesn’t determine the shirt’s shape or fit.
Selected styles from brands including Samurai Jeans and Big John use selvedge denim. Check each product description for the fabric weight, construction and wash treatment, as these vary across the range.
How to wear a denim shirt
For an easy combination, wear a blue denim shirt with chinos or black jeans. If you’re pairing it with blue jeans, contrasting washes help distinguish the two pieces. A light-wash shirt with darker jeans is a useful starting point.
Short sleeve styles work well on their own, while long sleeve shirts can be worn fastened or open over a plain tee. Compare the chest and shoulder measurements with a shirt you already own, allowing extra room if you plan to layer underneath. Follow the individual care instructions, particularly for darker indigo and unwashed fabrics.
