Jean Store is the UK's oldest denim store, established in 1967 on the south coast of England, it was the first denim specialist of its kind. The store was opened at a time when there was a huge demand for brands such as Levi’s® and Wrangler, with classic Americana a big look in the fashion world. Jean Store began to import Levi’s® directly from the USA and became a huge success, stocking iconic styles such as the original 501. To this day, Jean Store remains one of the UK’s oldest Levi’s® stockists.
In 1998 Jean Store was launched online, diversifying the brands stocked and constantly evolving with demand so that, in addition to the originals, denim brands now include Edwin, Nudie, Momotaro Jeans, Denham, Japan Blue, Big John, 3Sixteen, Studio d'Artisan and Naked & Famous Denim. The company has evolved from an established denim supplier to being at the cutting edge of denim retail.
The team travel globally to source the best new brands and have a love for Japanese denim. This fabric is highly regarded due to the traditional process of weaving the denim on the original shuttle looms. Work on these looms is a slower process, producing small quantities of fabric, but it creates an imperfect and varied denim that lends a character not found on modern machines. Likewise, the artisanal techniques used in the dying process produce a unique indigo finish. These traditional techniques create the characteristic fades and creases which are unique to each wearer and much sought after by denim fans.
The Jean Store staff are denim enthusiasts, which gives them not only an in-depth knowledge of the processes behind denim making, but also of how to care for your denim after purchase. They understand how specific makes will fit and variations in brands sizing. Jean Store’s focus is to source the best craftsmanship and most interesting denim brands for their customer.
