The Yonetomi New Basic T-Shirt is designed as the ultimate year-round essential, equally suitable as a summer staple or a reliable winter layering piece. Created in collaboration with Yonetomi Textile and one of Japan’s leading cut-and-sew manufacturers, it blends refined craftsmanship with thoughtful practicality.
The fabric is the heart of this T-shirt. By combining American and Australian cotton, a custom-made 7.5oz tubular jersey was developed—firmly knitted for strength and durability yet soft and supple to the touch. This unique weight strikes the perfect balance: opaque enough to wear as an outer layer while light enough to function as a comfortable inner layer without bulk. Over time, the fabric becomes more familiar to the body, developing character with wear.
Attention to design ensures lasting quality and a refined silhouette. The neckline is reinforced with a tightly packed rib, preventing sagging even after repeated washing. Knitted parts are finished with careful single attachment and binder sewing, creating unity and durability. The fit is casual yet structured, with careful attention to the shoulder height, sleeve curve, and drape for a flattering look.
Available in two timeless colours, White and Black, the T-shirt is finished with thoughtful packaging. Each piece comes in a reusable zip bag printed with Yonetomi’s “woven from the common” statement.
