Description

The Jackman Back Nep Umps Pant is a relaxed tapered trouser inspired by the silhouette of traditional baseball umpire pants. Designed with a loose waist and a strong taper towards the hem, it balances easy movement with a sharp, refined finish, while large gusseted pockets nod to the spare ball pouches used by referees.

Crafted from 100% cotton using a dry American and Australian cotton blend, the fabric has a natural back-nep texture with a rustic, distinctive surface. Neps are deliberately introduced during spinning, then carefully woven on an old-fashioned rapier loom to add strength to the weaker nep yarns. The fabric is dyed without silket processing to preserve its natural irregularity, while a resin finish adds firmness, wind resistance and shape retention through repeated washing.
