Description
The Yuketen Maine Guide boot is a tribute to the heritage of New England’s early wilderness guides, blending native moccasin traditions with the durability of modern shoemaking. Designed to endure harsh climates and rugged terrain, it pairs the close-fitting comfort of traditional moccasin construction with the strength and structure of a true guide boot.
Handcrafted in Maine, USA, each pair is built using Horween’s full-grain Scotchgrain leather. This textured hide features a pebbled surface created through embossing, offering both visual depth and enhanced durability. Its robust character, combined with Yuketen’s genuine moccasin construction, results in a boot that moulds to the wearer’s foot for a secure, anatomical fit. Multiple pieces of leather are hand-sewn and hand-lasted on Yuketen’s proprietary 1950s moccasin last, with a cinched vamp providing additional support and stability.
Inside, vegetable-tanned leather insoles and midsoles are paired with a leather tuck, steel shank, and memory foam for comfort and structural integrity. This system distributes weight evenly across the foot, reducing fatigue. Beneath, nine layers of leather, rubber, and PU compounds form a dense, supportive base. The Vibram USA-made Christy sole, referencing 1970s work boot styles, completes the boot with lightweight cushioning and reliable traction.
