Studio D’Artisan’s 8204 Ishikawadai Knit Jersey Tee in White is a refined everyday T-shirt built around rare Japanese spinning and knitting machinery. Simple in shape but rich in fabric character, it has the soft, natural texture and understated feel that comes from slower, more considered production.

Made from 100% cotton, the yarn is spun on an Ishikawadai ring spinning machine, a Japanese-made machine manufactured in 1953 by Ishikawa Seisakusho. Running at around one-third the speed of modern ring spinning machines, it places less stress on the cotton, helping preserve the fibre’s natural softness and creating an uneven, almost hand-spun character. The fabric is then knitted in Wakayama on old-fashioned small-gauge knitting machines, producing a tubular round-body construction with no side seams and a texture made slowly, carefully and with lasting vintage appeal.
