Description

This handcrafted ceramic grater is a masterpiece of Japanese utility and craftsmanship—an essential kitchen tool that transforms grating into a smooth, effortless task. Whether you're preparing daikon radish, wasabi, ginger, or even hard cheese and apples, this grater delivers a fine, fluffy texture with minimal effort, thanks to its precisely embedded ceramic spikes that are approximately three times harder than stainless steel.

Made in the Iwami region of Shimane Prefecture by a family-run company with a heritage dating back to 1925, each grater honours the rustic beauty of Iwami-yaki pottery. The ceramic spikes are carefully hand-selected—only 15% of the raw ceramic is deemed suitable—and individually arranged to maximise grating performance. This meticulous craftsmanship results in a tool that's not only effective, but also a pleasure to use and display on the table for quick, fresh garnishes.

Equipped with a silicone base to prevent slipping, it remains stable during use, and its smooth surface makes cleaning quick and easy—no tiny parts to trap residue. Beautiful enough to serve from and practical enough for everyday use, this grater is a quiet revolution in your kitchen ritual.
