This simple and modern tea cup is rooted in centuries of tradition while serving a versatile role in daily life. Handcrafted in the Mino region, it represents Minoyaki pottery — one of Japan’s most important ceramic traditions with over 1,000 years of history. Available in three classic glazes that define Mino ware — the cup carries forward timeless aesthetics.
Each cup is unique, shaped and glazed by hand. The glaze naturally drips and pools, creating individual patterns, while coarse clay adds character with textures, small holes, or iron spots that form during firing. Subtle reddish hues at the base and occasional surface penetration cracks (kan-nyu) further enhance the organic, living quality of the piece. Even the delicate metallic sound produced by fresh penetration after kiln cooling is part of its charm. With proper care — gentle washing, thorough drying, and mindful storage — the cup will develop personality over time, deepening its connection to both maker and user.
