    Description

Weather-resistant Cover Cloth Shell with responsibly-sourced down insulation.

The Down Cruiser Jacket combines Filson legacy materials with state-of-the-art insulation into a jacket that will weather any storm, no matter how wet and cold. Responsibly-sourced goose down, the lightest and warmest insulation found in nature, traps body heat like nothing else can. Oil finish Cover and Shelter Cloths keep the rain out so the down insulation can do its job. Merino wool lines the neck and handwarmer pockets, for warmth even when wet. Weather be damned – this jacket will protect you.

Filson's Down Cruiser shell is mostly built with Cover Cloth, their lightest-weight oil finish waxed fabric–thoroughly saturated with a special wax mixture to ensure maximum water resistance. Filson deployed Shelter Cloth, their midweight oil-finish fabric, for the pockets, cuffs and lower-back for added durability. Merino wool lines the collar, so your necks feels warm even if snow blows under the brim of your hat. The front pockets are arranged like the iconic Mackinaw Wool Cruiser’s, a design that’s proven itself since 1914. The interior-chest zippered pocket keeps you phone or valuables secure and quick-at-hand. Interior wool-blend, rib-knit cuffs keep warmth in and provide a custom fit. The lining is built with 1.4-oz. ripstop nylon, so lightweight it’s virtually unnoticeable apart from the comfort it provides.

The goose down that insulates this Cruiser consists of large spherical clusters of the soft under-plumage of grey geese, each cluster with thousands of soft filaments that trap heat. This is why goose down has been the champion of lightweight warmth for centuries. Filson use only responsibly-sourced goose down, which means that the geese that provide it are treated humanely–never live-plucked or force-fed. All of Filson's goose down is traceable and certified to follow the RDS (Responsible Down Standard), and is processed in bluesign®-approved facilities.

The Down Cruiser–Filson's core DNA, filled with nature’s warmest and lightest, for heavy-duty protection in the coldest, wettest weather.

Do not wash or dry clean – brush or wipe clean with a damp rag. Rewax as needed to maintain maximum water resistance. To prevent the transfer of oils, we recommend avoiding prolonged contact between Filson oil finish goods and light-coloured fabrics, especially in warm weather.

Fit: Relaxed fit allows room for midweight layers underneath.

All Filson sizes are US sizes which can be larger for a European stature, so we recommend sizing down.

    Filson.

Born in 1850, C. C. Filson inherited his father's pioneer spirit and love of the outdoors. After homesteading in Nebraska and roaming the country as a railroad conductor, he moved to the small city of Seattle, Washington in the 1890s. Filson's timing couldn't have been better. By 1897, the Great Klondike Gold Rush was on, and thousands of fortune hunters were stampeding into Seattle, headed north. Armed with a strong work ethic, a reputation for honesty and several years' experience outfitting Pacific Northwest settlers and prospectors, C. C. Filson was ready to stake his claim to fame.

Filson continued to make his goods from the best materials obtainable, and guaranteed every piece of merchandise. If he didn't stock an item a customer needed, he custom-made it for him. Filson's name became synonymous with reliability, satisfaction and honest values. By the 1960s, Filson's reputation as the premier outfitter for outdoorsmen had spread around the globe. In addition to being stocked by retailers of quality outdoor wear, Filson garments were being ordered by mail from places as far away as Greenland.
