Developed by the second generation of the Richard-Pontvert family, this distinctive model was introduced shortly after the war in 1945. In an era marked by material shortages, it was designed with straightforward specifications: two eyelets, a smaller yet robust lace, thick leather featuring a piped seam for added durability, strong stitching, a cushioned insole, and a natural rubber sole. The name of this model was also inspired by the birth of Michel Richard – the current chairman of the company – reflecting the trend of anglicising names during that period. Thus, Michel became Michael, and the legend was born.
The model includes a Norwegian welt for both men and women. Paraboot is a pioneer in this construction method, which involves stitching the upper to the sole with a visible welt. This technique of hand-stitching guarantees that the shoes are not only comfortable and durable but also entirely waterproof.
Featuring embroidered flowers, denim fabric, raffia, and more recently, cowhide, the classic Michael design is continually refreshed with new materials and colors. Numerous esteemed brands have partnered with Paraboot to create their unique versions of the Michael, including Hermès, Yodji Yamamoto, Ermenegildo Zegna, Christophe Lemaire, and Etudes, along with prominent names like United Arrows and Beams.
