Drawing from his experience as a lead mechanic for the Los Angeles Metro, Steven Dang recognised the demand for high-quality workwear and channeled his expertise into founding Railcar Fine Goods in 2010. For eight years, Steven balanced working the night shift at Metro with daytime commitments at Railcar until he could fully dedicate himself to the brand.

Every element of their operation, based in their workshop in El Monte, California, is centered on utilising a small team of sewers and leather artisans to create products from the highest quality raw materials, ensuring they endure over time. In contrast to many denim and clothing brands, every aspect of Railcar's manufacturing is conducted in-house at their workshop. From the outset, when founder Steven Dang began crafting garments, he noticed that outsourcing production to large factories led to inconsistent quality and mistakes due to the simultaneous production of various brands. He realised that the only way to truly stand behind his products was to handle every garment in-house. Years later, Railcar continues to uphold this belief. They prefer to take the more challenging path if it means they can ensure the quality and specifications of everything that leaves their shop.
