Nigel Cabourn x Lee OX’ed Silver.

The Nigel Cabourn x Lee OX’ed Silver collection brings together two distinct approaches to heritage clothing: Lee’s iconic American workwear and Nigel Cabourn’s meticulous archive-led design. Inspired by the clothing worn across American railways, ranches and rodeos during the 1920s, ’30s and ’40s, the limited collection reworks historic Lee designs through exceptional Japanese denim craftsmanship.

Central to the collection is Brurry Denim, a proprietary Japanese selvedge denim developed for OX’ed Silver. Woven from deliberately uneven and unpredictable yarns, the fabric takes inspiration from the irregular character of 1920s European vintage textiles. Its textured surface is designed to develop individual fading and wear patterns over time, giving each garment an increasingly distinctive appearance.

The collection explores an impressive range of traditional Japanese denim techniques. Selected yarns are hank-dyed with pure indigo before being treated with tannin and iron mordants to create deeper, aged tones. Elsewhere, rope-dyed and sulphur-dyed fabrics sit alongside cheese-dyed olive denim, with right and left-hand twills woven on modified vintage shuttle looms adding further variation in texture and character.

Historic Lee workwear provides the blueprint throughout, with references to the 91J Loco Jacket, 101J Jacket, 91B Overall and 101 Jean alongside railway, ranch and rodeo clothing. Archive-informed details include period-style buttons, hair-on-hide and leather patches, suspender attachments, waistband cinches, pleated fronts and exposed selvedge detailing.

The Nigel Cabourn x Lee OX’ed Silver collection at Jeanstore is a celebration of fabric, craftsmanship and authentic workwear history. Made in Japan and designed to become more personal with wear, these are garments where irregular texture, evolving colour and carefully considered construction ensure the character only becomes richer with age.

Nigel Cabourn x Lee OX’ed Silver at Jeanstore

The Nigel Cabourn x Lee OX’ed Silver collection is a limited-edition celebration of American workwear, rare denim character and Japanese craftsmanship. The collection brings together archive-inspired jackets, jeans, overalls and work shirts based on Lee garments originally worn by railway workers, ranchers and rodeo figures during the 1920s, ’30s and ’40s.

A defining feature of the Jeanstore collection is Brurry Denim, a proprietary Japanese selvedge denim developed for OX’ed Silver. Woven from deliberately uneven and unpredictable yarns, it takes inspiration from the beautiful irregularities found in vintage fabrics. The result is denim rich in texture and variation, designed to develop individual fading and wear patterns so that its character becomes increasingly personal over time.

Across the collection, specialist Japanese production techniques create further depth. Selected yarns are hank-dyed with pure indigo and treated with tannin and iron mordants for a deeper, aged appearance, while other fabrics use rope-dyeing, sulphur-dyeing and cheese-dyeing techniques. Modified vintage shuttle looms and contrasting right and left-hand twills add further texture, with both indigo and distinctive olive denim represented.

The Nigel Cabourn x Lee OX’ed Silver collection also retains many of the details that made the original Lee workwear so distinctive, including period-inspired buttons, leather and hair-on-hide patches, suspender attachments, waistband cinches, pleated fronts and exposed selvedge.

Selected for Jeanstore for its exceptional fabrics, craftsmanship and authentic workwear heritage, Nigel Cabourn x Lee OX’ed Silver offers something genuinely distinctive within our denim collection – Japanese-made pieces rooted in Lee’s history and designed to gain character with every wear.
