Choosing your black slim fit jeans
Slim jeans offer a closer fit than regular cuts, but the shape varies between brands and models. Some keep a straighter line below the knee; others narrow towards the ankle. Compare the thigh, knee and hem measurements where available, rather than choosing by waist size alone.

Slim straight or slim tapered?

Black stretch jeans and non-stretch denim
Stretch denim adds flexibility, which can be useful in a closer cut when sitting or bending. Check the composition of the particular wash you’re buying: two pairs from the same model range may use different fabrics.
Non-stretch denim has less give, so getting the waist and thigh fit right from the outset matters. Don’t choose an uncomfortable size on the assumption that it will stretch enough with wear.

Solid black or a washed finish?
For a more uniform appearance, start with solid-black styles. They pair easily with a shirt and leather shoes when you want a smarter casual outfit.
Washed-black finishes show more variation in tone, often with lighter areas around seams and across the fabric. They work well with T-shirts, overshirts and trainers if you prefer a more worn-in appearance.
Colour names differ between brands. Compare the close-up and full-length photographs to judge the finish rather than relying on the word “black” alone.
