Mens Beanie Hats.

Shop men’s beanie hats from Carhartt WIP, Fred Perry, Wrangler and Merz b. Schwanen, alongside colourful Donegal yarn wool styles. Compare ribbed knits, merino wool, cotton and fleece designs, with turn-up cuffs and different crown depths. Choose black, navy or grey, or add colour with orange, burgundy, green and brighter shades.

Men’s Beanies in Wool, Cotton & Fleece

A beanie’s material, depth and cuff all affect how it feels when worn. Some sit close to the crown, while others leave more room above the head or pull further down over the ears. This collection includes Fred Perry’s ribbed cotton beanies, Merz b. Schwanen’s merino wool waffle knits and Carhartt WIP fleece styles, alongside wool hats in a broad range of colours.

Wool Beanie Hats or Cotton Beanies?

For colder days, compare the wool beanie hats from Wrangler and Fred Perry with the Donegal yarn styles shown here. The Donegal yarn gives the knit a flecked appearance, with small variations in colour across the surface. Merz b. Schwanen’s merino wool beanies offer a different texture through their waffle knit.

Cotton beanies provide an alternative if you prefer the feel of cotton against your skin. Check the full composition rather than relying on the product name, and consider the thickness of the knit as well as the fibre. A densely knitted cotton hat can feel more substantial than a fine wool one, so material alone won’t tell you how heavy or warm a beanie will feel.

How Should a Beanie Fit?

The band should feel secure without pressing into your forehead or repeatedly slipping upwards. Although many beanies come in one size, their depth and stretch vary. Compare any dimensions provided with a hat you already find comfortable, particularly if you prefer a close fit or need more room.

Look at the model photographs to judge where the cuff sits in relation to the ears. For winter wear, choose enough depth to cover them comfortably. A shorter beanie worn above the ears gives less coverage, even if it uses a thick yarn. Where the cuff is adjustable, folding it higher shortens the hat; a fixed cuff offers less scope to change the fit.

Ribbed, Waffle-Knit & Fleece Beanies

Ribbed beanies have vertical channels in the knit, while waffle styles have a more textured, grid-like surface. These details change the appearance of a plain-coloured hat without needing a large logo or pattern. Compare the close-up photographs to see the scale of the knit and the thickness of the turn-up.

Fleece beanies offer a different feel and surface from knitted wool or cotton. The Carhartt WIP styles in this collection include plain and patterned options. Check whether the fleece forms the hat itself or is used as a lining; “fleece-lined” describes a different construction and shouldn’t be assumed from a textured exterior.

Black Beanies, Neutral Shades & Brighter Colours

A men’s black beanie pairs easily with blue denim, olive jackets and grey knitwear. Navy, charcoal and cream are other straightforward choices if you want to wear the same hat with several coats. Look for a small embroidered logo or patch if you prefer limited decoration.

The Donegal yarn beanies offer more colour, including yellow, orange, pink and blue. Wear a brighter hat with a plain jacket, or repeat one of its colours in a scarf or shirt. Flecked yarn can make a strong shade look less uniform than a solid-coloured knit.

Caring for Your Beanie

Follow the care label for the specific hat, as wool, cotton and fleece can require different washing methods. Don’t assume that a wool beanie is machine washable, and avoid stretching the cuff when the fabric is wet. Where the instructions call for reshaping and drying flat, doing so helps preserve the hat’s proportions.
