The story behind the Levi’s® Red Tab

The Levi’s® red tab was first introduced in 1936 to help distinguish Levi’s® denim from competitors. Over time, it became an iconic symbol associated with the Levi's 501 jeans and the brand’s heritage. While most tabs feature the Levi’s® logo, some are intentionally left blank with only the trademark symbol to help protect the company’s legal rights to the tab design itself.
