The Railcar Type 2 X100 is made out of Railcar's 100th selvedge fabric used. This iconic milestone jacket is made of a Japanese 15 ounce medium/heavy, redline selvedge denim and was inspired by the original heritage design. This version has a few details to improve the jacket for today's modern styling. Hand pockets were added for comfort, huge interior shelled edge pockets for added storage to name a couple. Fit and quality finish is on point to exceed today's standards. The jackets are designed and manufactured in-house at the Railcar factory in El Monte, California, in small batches.
The fabric is redline Japanese dark indigo selvedge raw denim weighing in at a medium weight 15 ounces per square yard.
After performing an in-house shrink test on this fabric, the results were minimal shrinkage. Railcar recommends sizing to your normally bought size. Don't size up or down.

Originally the denim cloth used to make jeans was produced on shuttle looms. These produced a tightly woven cloth by passing a continuous thread backwards and forwards. The resulting fabric was narrow and had finished edges or self-edges, hence the term selvedge. This fabric was relatively costly and slow to produce as were the jeans fashioned from it. When the demand for jeans rose dramatically in the latter half of the 20th century production methods were inevitably altered to create cheaper fabrics that could be produced in higher volumes. Shuttle looms were abandoned in favour of projectile looms which were quicker, which produced wider cloth and which did not use continuous threads. Denim now had unfinished edges with a frayed appearance.

The team at Railcar have one goal that continues to drive them every day: to bring you the absolute best products that can be made. Every aspect of the operation in their El Monte, CA workshop revolves around using a small team of sewers and leather workers to build a product using the highest quality raw materials available that will stand the test of time. Everything is built from start to finish to ensure longevity. Unlike most other denim and clothing companies, every stage of the manufacturing takes place in-house at their workshop.
From the beginning when company founder Steven Dang first started building garments, he found that using a large factory for production led to inconsistent quality and errors due to the numerous other brands being sewn simultaneously. He found that the only way to truly stand behind his products was to build every garment in-house from start to finish. Every Railcar Fine Goods pant, jacket, shirt, and leather item was designed, cut, and assembled by their small team using manual and vintage machinery.
All sizing information is for guide purposes only.
Where possible we provide individual product size guides. If these aren't
available we provide a generic brand size guide. Individual garments may
differ from these measurements and we cannot guarantee the item you receive
will match these measurements exactly.
Many brands also have a level of tolerance in size differences
between the same item - this is usually 0.5 inches.
If no size guide is shown below, it means there is not one available at
present for this item and it will be added if/when it becomes available.
