Description

The jacket that started it all.

The Filson Short Lined Cruiser is made with Tin Cloth, Filson's signature waxed cotton that outperforms and outlasts the competition. This exceptional fabric has protected loggers, woodsmen, and sportsmen from thorns and brambles in the snow-choked, rain-soaked forests of the Pacific Northwest since the 1920s. Often imitated, Tin Cloth is the fabric trusted by outdoor professionals who depend on gear that withstands abuse in the harshest conditions. No other waxed canvas can match its durability, weather resistance, and legacy of dependable protection.

Filson Tin Cloth comes from England’s iconic British Millerain, pioneers of waxing fabric. At 14 oz. per square yard, Tin Cloth is twice the weight of its imitators, yet is not excessively thick. This is due to the uncommonly tight weave that’s densely packed with more yarns in every inch. Much like heavy-duty rigid denim, Tin Cloth will break in and mould itself to the body’s contours.

Cut at the hip, the Short Cruiser won’t ride up when seated. The shorter length also allows easy access to pockets or a tool belt. The jacket is lined with Filson signature Cover Cloth, a durable 6-oz. unwaxed cotton also from British Millerain. Sleeves are lined with sturdy polyester for easy on and off.

Virtually indestructible metal wreath buttons are used for all fastenings. The waist has adjustment tabs for a custom fit. Hand pockets have large openings for access even when wearing gloves, and are bar-tacked at stress points. The left chest pocket is flap-secured, and the right is slotted for a pen, carpenter’s pencil or penlight.

The Filson Short Lined Cruiser – made with the best materials and construction for a lifetime of dependable service. Accept no less.

Filson.

Born in 1850, C. C. Filson inherited his father's pioneer spirit and love of the outdoors. After homesteading in Nebraska and roaming the country as a railroad conductor, he moved to the small city of Seattle, Washington in the 1890s. Filson's timing couldn't have been better. By 1897, the Great Klondike Gold Rush was on, and thousands of fortune hunters were stampeding into Seattle, headed north. Armed with a strong work ethic, a reputation for honesty and several years' experience outfitting Pacific Northwest settlers and prospectors, C. C. Filson was ready to stake his claim to fame.

Filson continued to make his goods from the best materials obtainable, and guaranteed every piece of merchandise. If he didn't stock an item a customer needed, he custom-made it for him. Filson's name became synonymous with reliability, satisfaction and honest values. By the 1960s, Filson's reputation as the premier outfitter for outdoorsmen had spread around the globe. In addition to being stocked by retailers of quality outdoor wear, Filson garments were being ordered by mail from places as far away as Greenland.
