Naked & Famous Denim’s Maekake Dobby Kimono Shirt in Indigo is a modern tribute to Japanese workwear heritage, drawing its shape from the traditional noragi once worn by labourers. Cut in the brand’s Kimono Shirt style, it has a relaxed, jacket-like feel that balances cultural reference with easy contemporary wear.

Made in Canada from 12.2oz Japanese dobby fabric, the cloth is inspired by traditional maekake aprons worn by sake merchants and labourers. Historically woven densely for protection against sharp tools, heat and heavy use, this modern interpretation keeps that sturdy structure while being fabric-rinsed for a softer, more comfortable feel from first wear. The rinse also brings out the fabric’s layered indigo tones, which will develop subtle gradients over time, while the Horween Cavalier Ink Blue Chromexcel leather patch adds a richly toned detail designed to age alongside the fabric.
