Description

Dotsume/High-density jersey fabric is an extra-thick material of approximately 11.5oz, made from American cotton and knitted on a loopwheel machine. As it's knitted very slowly, each machine can only produce about 30pcs per day, but it is characterised by its ability to evenly pack the yarn and its resistance to shrinkage and distortion even after repeated wear and washing.

It has the advantages of being non-transparent and sweat stains are less noticeable, and its firmness makes it less likely to cling to the skin. Constructed with ribs as thick as sweatshirts, and the front and back W gusset specification are seen in vintage sweatshirts.

Jackman

In 1949, driven by a passion for baseball, visionary Mitsugu Tanabe quit his day job and founded the Tanabe Meriyasu factory in Fukui, Japan. Inspired by the stockings of visiting American baseball teams in the years following the war, Tanabe began to create baseball stirrup stockings of exceptional quality, even inventing new machines in order to yield a result superior to anything else available. Tanabe Meriyasu soon gained a reputation for quality and craftmanship. The factory went on to supply the official training wears of the 1964 Japanese Olympic team.

The Jackman brand as it exists today is the evolution of Tanabe’s founding vision. Each piece is still crafted in the original factory, and the Jackman offering may have extended far beyond baseball stirrup stockings, but the same commitment to quality that inspired Mitsugu Tanabe remains. Jackman even continue to use the original vintage machines; although the pace is slower than today’s machines, the quality endures.
