    Description

The reversible design unique to Sukajan souvenir jackets allows you to enjoy two different patterns in one jacket, with different patterns on the front and back.

The design is delicately embroidered with a theme of "Billiken-san". The God Billiken's Shrine is situated on the top floor of Tsutenkaku Tower, and in ancient lore it is said that if you stroke the soles of his feet, you will receive good luck. Billiken remains a symbol of Osaka Shinsekai.

The black side has a pattern inspired by "New World" tourism, depicting the lively streets of Osaka and the charming God Billiken. Studio D'Artisan's  mascots, pigs, carry Takoyaki and Kushikatsu, which are essential to daily Osakan life are featured widely on this jacket.

The green side has a lively and unique finish with beloved Osaka symbols such as cute Osaka aunties and Manzai embroidered alongside the Osaka Map.

The colour scheme of the ribs is different on the front and back, so the feel and style changes drastically. The main feature of this jacket is that it is lightweight and comfortable to wear everyday.

    Outer/Lining: 100% Rayon
    Rib: 70% Acrylic / 30% Wool

    Made in Japan

    Studio D'Artisan.

This is where is all began. The first of the legendary 'Osaka 5', Studio D'Artisan was founded in 1979 by Shigeharu Tagaki, a designer who had been learning his trade in France. Inspired by French workwear and especially the American jeans craze sweeping Japan in the late sixties and early seventies, Tagaki started reproducing vintage denim on old Toyada G-3 shuttle loom. Disappointed with the poor quality of mass-produced jeans which flooded the market in the 1980s, the company were soon making original denim goods, utilizing designs and productions techniques from the golden age of jeans.

It wouldn't be an overstatement to say that the company was one of the prime reasons for the explosion of interest in Japanese denim in the late nineties and early aughts. In fact, SDA claim that their flagship model 'DO-1' was the first raw selvedge jean produced, making it the granddaddy of Japanese quality denim.
