Description
-
The Edwin Two tone Oxford brogue is one of the most popular, decorative brogues at Cheaney. Striking in design and featuring the typical contrasting characteristics of a classic spectator shoe, Edwin is sure to make a statement, complimenting any gentleman's wardrobe. Constructed on the 125th Anniversary last, one of the longest standing Cheaney last shapes.
What is the origin of Spectator Shoes?
Although they were too striking for the taste of the British gentlemen, it was in the United States during the 1920s and 1930s that spectator shoes achieved their greatest popularity. Typically constructed from two contrasting colours and also referred to as the co-respondent shoe, this style had a great presence in the Jazz music scene, later influencing gangster movies and finally, leaping in to mainstream gentlemen's fashion around the globe.

Cheaney Shoes.

Joseph Cheaney established the company in 1886, and in 1896, along with his son Arthur, they moved to the site which the factory occupies today.
During the first 80 years of business, the factory made shoes exclusively for some of the finest retailers around the world, branded to their individual company requirements.

Northamptonshire is renowned as the home of quality English shoemaking, and Cheaney still leads the way with all styles still handmade in the original factory, using only the highest quality materials and the craftmanship and attention to detail they are renowned for.
